Meet Our Principal

Born and raised in Bennettsville and a product of the Marlboro County School District, I knew when I graduated from Francis Marion University in December 1998 with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education that I wanted to come back home to teach.  So, I did.  I returned to my primary school and began my first job as a teacher under the principal who was there when I attended BPS.  What a full circle moment.  I stayed at BPS for 12 years, where I taught 1st and 2nd grade and became a TAP Master Teacher.  In 2005 I completed my master’s degree in Education Administration and in 2011 I was transferred to McColl Elementary Middle School as a 3rd grade teacher and that turned out to be the best professional move of my life!  I taught for three years before becoming a TAP Master Teacher again for one year.  In an unexpected turn of events, I was appointed Assistant Principal of Elementary students in 2014.  I served MEMS as Elementary AP for 3 years.  At the beginning of this school year our previous principal relocated to be closer to family which opened the principal vacancy for MEMS.  On July 30, 2018, thanks to Superintendent McCord and the MCSD School Board, during a MCSD Board Meeting I was appointed principal of this school that has become my home.   It is my honor to be the new Principal of MEMS!

My personal leadership vision is to foster an educational environment where the emotional and physical well-being of staff and students is valued.  No two students or staff members are the same, and therefore have unique needs that should be met through a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.  When those needs are met, staff and students perform at their peak potential and true educational growth is the result.  I will create a positive and engaging relationship with community members and stakeholders, who provide valuable resources that assist in meeting these goals.

Together we can continue to be the BEST school in Marlboro County! Go Red Devils!
